My journey of Dewang Mehta IT awards'22
Little did I know that I would be invited to such a great platform and felicitated by such honorable people. My journey began when I got shortlisted for Dewang Mehta IT Awards 2022 for being the top-scored candidate in my academic year from my college i.e. GEC Bhavnagar. I was very excited and thrilled to be a part of it.
The event was attended by ** Shri Harish Mehta**(Author-THE MAVERICK EFFECT),** Shri Harsh Manglik**(Former Chairman and Geography Managing Director, Accenture-India, and Former Chairman, NASSCOM), Shri Vijay Nehra(Secretary of Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of Gujrat), Shri K N Kher(Registrar GTU), Smt. Sonal Bhatawadekar(Director, STPI Gandhinagar) and Moulik(). The venue was Pandit Deendayal Auditorium in Ahmedabad. The influence of these people motivated us.
I completed my registration process and then the event started at 11:00 am with Diya lighting ceremony. All the guests panel were invited to do the honors.
The event then proceeded in the following manner:
1) A short speech by Smt.Sonal Bhatawadekar:
She enlightened us about STPI(Software Technology Parks of India) and its usefulness in setting the environment and networking. The way STPI helps people in start-ups, businesses, etc. is just incredible. Till now they have helped a huge number of people in the software industry. She also showed us a small video clip of the working of STPI, its missions and objectives.
2) Fireside chat with ** Shri Harish Mehta**:
He is the author of the book "The Maverick Effect". The book is about the revolutionary IT movement in India and the contributions of the late Shri Dewang Mehta to this movement. It also includes the difficulties faced by NASSCOM in its initial stages. This book motivates us and gives us the courage to pass all hurdles in life and aim for the best in the future. I would recommend everyone to read this book. The fireside chat was conducted by Moulik(CEO, of Netweb Software) . He was very inquisitive which in turn made the audience also inquisitive. We learned so many new things from him.
3) A lecture by ** Shri Harsh Manglik**:
He is the managing director of Accenture. He informed us about the techniques and skills required to be in the industry. His speech was truly motivating and interesting. He used many contexts of Albert Einstein, Mahatma Gandhi, etc. One of his best quotes was "If I have seen farther than others, it's not because I am tall but because I was sitting on the shoulders of giants". We learned so much from you sir.
4) Best Projects Felicitation:
All final-year students who had built great projects were eligible to register for the Dewang Mehta Awards. After two or three rounds of screening 10 teams were shortlisted and felicitated. And the winning team received a 1,00,000 Rs. cheque from DMFT(Dewang Mehta Foundation Trust). There were many other interesting projects like wave pointers, smart robot systems, etc.
5) Felicitation of toppers of all GTU colleges:
All top scorer students across Gujrat were invited and felicitated with a certificate and congratulated for their success.
